BIOGRAPHY
Barb joined the Counseling Center at the beginning of the 2021 fall semester after working in emergency services and community mental health. Barb has experience doing individual and group therapy, and implementing novel programs involving community collaboration to support individuals.
COUNSELING APPROACH AND AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION
Barb follows a client-centered approach, and enjoys helping clients make progress as they discover unrecognized capabilities and underutilized sources of strength. She employs Motivational Interviewing, Motivation Enhancement Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and other forms of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Barb has experience working with diverse populations including people of color and people of the LGBTQIA+ community.
INTERESTS
Barb has traveled extensively, and enjoys cooking and being active in nature. One of her best adventures was an oar-powered raft trip through the Grand Canyon.
