Where and when do I get my cap and gown?

View Grad Fair information on caps and gowns on the following pages:  Undergraduate,  Graduate

Will I get my diploma that day?

As in years past, the actual diploma will be mailed by the Office of the Registrar several weeks after Commencement. Diplomas are processed approximately four to six weeks after commencement and will be mailed to the address on the graduation application. All students should make sure their address is accurate on their graduation application.

Will my local newspaper be notified that I'm graduating?

After the conferral process is complete—In June or July—the Communications and Marketing Office will send the names of students who have graduated to students’ hometown newspaper(s) based on the address on the graduation application (ensure all information is correct!). Individual newspapers control when and if they publish the provided information.

What happens if I can't/don't attend?

Attendance is completely voluntary for eligible students. Diplomas will be mailed several weeks after the ceremony, and choosing to bypass the ceremony will not affect your graduation status. However, given the event’s special significance for graduates and their families and friends, we encourage eligible students to participate.

Will hard-copy programs be available at the ceremonies?

No. The Commencement Programs will be made available online. A link to the programs will be posted on the Commencement website the week of May 5. The file can be downloaded and saved, printed, and/or shared with friends and family.
